--- 2008 ---
France our New home - the local riding
You may note the distinct lack of straight roads anywhere...

January 26th & 27th
Well after a busy start to 2008 we finally got the dust washed off the bikes and out on the road.

February 2nd
Still working hard on getting Riders Rest up and running but also finding time to ride,
well that's what we are here for...

Even though I had spent the morning working outside in a T-shirt the roads were pretty cold.

February 10th
Well it is spring again absolutely unbelievable weather.
Today Wendy got out on her bike 1st time this year and we did a short 90 miles round trip to
Bourgeneuf punctuated with a Tea stop at Payrat Le Château

this is the tower at Bourgeneuf...

18th & 19th March
The weather has been very wet of late but now it is sunny but bloody cold.
Drew a Bobby from Barnsley (yes they do exist) came to stay on his way to the South of France
So I showed him some twisties and generally escaped painting the barn well all work makes Tony a Dullard...

Right lets go... Tuesday

St Leonard de Noblat

Oradour-Sur-Glane

Ready to go Wednesday

D16 from Treignac to Egletons

Tulle Centre

Close up of New Viaduct A89 above Tulle

12th April
The weather is still unsettled varying from very wet and cold to just wet and murky.
But at least we have all the inside work completed in the Barn and we are ready for business.
I did get out today for a blast with Bobby as pillion even though it was raining...

21st April
The weather is still unsettled an very wet.
But I came here to enjoy the ride...  I have fixed a slow puncture in the rear tyre of the FJR and ow need to sort the headstock bearings
So I rode in the seriously hard rain the 100 Kms to Tulle and back, The roads were a pleasure to ride and the FJR didn't miss a beat...

The Yamaha dealership was closed today well it is a Monday and so part of the French weekend here in the Correze
but I had a nice ride and confirmed to the neighbours that I am a mad biker.

23rd April
The weather is still wet. but went to Tulle again (It was open) ordered some new tyres as the headstock bearings seemed fine

24th April
Well knock me over with the proverbial - Sunshine today and a planned ride out arranged so Wendy and I got the work done and were out like a flash...

26th April
Sunny again and feeling pleased with ourselves after completing the hard stranding area in the front of the house we hit the road...
We intended to have a twisty ride to Egletons on the D16  for coffee then Tulle and another coffee before riding the D940 home.
But whilst drinking coffee at Egletons I noticed that the Bolt holding Wendy's bikes rear left suspension spring in place had worked loose
and dropped off So we headed home at a reasonable pace and cut the grass... Luckily for Shan who turned up on his FJR.

This is quickly becoming one of my all time favourite roads...

11th May
--> View photo's from the May Bank Holiday. <--
After a hectic week of socialising and riding almost every day we took a sedate ride to Mt D'ore Via Castle De Val
Some fantastic scenery unfortunately so were the roads so we didn't have the opportunity to take photo's of it all...

Lunch break

20th & 21st May
Peter, Cochise, and Simple stayed.

Another rare photo of Wendy and I riding as usually we are taking the pictures ;)

2nd - 5th June
We had the pleasure of showing Ron, Leon & Sammy the roads whilst they stayed the week .

This is them arriving at J43 Service station where I met up with them and escorted them home to Ridersrest

June Cont...
The weather continued to challenge us with wet and stormy until the 14th when we were hurtled into the mid 20's and lower 30's
Interspersed between entertaining guests, and working to improve the outside area we were out riding...

Visiting the Honda Dealership in Brive to see what was needed to register the CB500S

A rare photo of me riding pillion - in fact the first time in 20 odd years - Coops is the pilot...

Brilliant sunshine 30+ degrees what else could you do but ride
Steve, Tess, Me, Tom

A16 Photo stop

July ...

Not mine just having a ride on it ;)

Still July - the 18th to be precise...
we specifically went out to test ride a Harley as Wendy has a desire to have one
We went to see if we could have a go on a Sportster XL883Low and we were in luck ;)

You do have to visit a Harley dealership though...

this one was a 2006 model bike with 265 Kms on the clock could you believe it we even managed to knock 200 euros off the price...

Wendy looking cool on a Harley - even if she wasn't sure about it.

She smiled too!

We both rather liked the Sportster XL1200Low but the price tag was a little high at 9,000 euros
the insurance would have stung too. Nice colours.

July - the 19th.
Had a nice ride out through Brive, and Tulle however the Suzuki dealership didn't have anything for us to look at or ride...

Brive

Tulle

July - the 20th...
We rode out to Uzerche to Le' Vintage car rallye and then on to Pompadour.

July - the 22nd...
We rode to Limoges to see about replacing the front tyre on the R111 - We had no luck
the dealership didn't even know they only did a ME880 for the front Lost confidence so am going to get one off the internet...
We did have a nice day out though avoiding the Motorways and discovering some good roads and some bad ones...

Ready for Wendy to get on outside our garage

26th July - The World Enduro Championships Uzerche...
